Örebro is a town located less than an hour from our company’s factory in Sweden, and amazingly, it is the hometown of Ronnie Peterson, with a statue built in his honor. I visited as a commemoration. Despite leaving work early, it was already completely dark before 4 o’clock in Sweden, and I apologize for the poor quality of the photos. I attempted to take a selfie with Ronnie but didn’t succeed, so I approached a passerby and kindly asked them to be the photographer, which they graciously agreed to. The statue is situated in a somewhat lonely spot, atop a mound that resembles a park, right at the street corner in front of an ordinary apartment building, standing about 10 meters tall. In fact, it’s a bit sad. The hometown had a Ronnie Peterson Memorial Museum, but unfortunately, it closed due to financial difficulties within a few years. Moreover, it’s somewhat peculiar that the restaurant on the ground floor of the apartment is named “Monza” (the circuit where Ronnie had his fatal accident). I heard there’s a cemetery about a 15-minute walk from the statue where Ronnie is buried, but despite wandering in the dark for about 20 minutes, I couldn’t find it (sad face). It was cold, my feet hurt, and it was a bit scary, so I decided to give up. Disappointing.
