My wife, who was running the washing machine in the basement, reported that the washing machine door would not open. She found that it would not open even if she tapped or pulled on it. I determined that the door was mechanically damaged because there was no response when I pulled on the handle, so I Googled Bosch Washingmachine door won’t open, etc.
- It’s possible that the door is unlocked by Just shutting the power completely off (e.g. pulling out the plug)
- If you open the lid of the round thread filter in the bottom right-hand corner, there is a lever inside for the emergency unlock, which can be pulled downwards with a flat-blade screwdriver, which will sound the unlocking and open the door.
- It can be opened by inserting a flexible, strong cord or wire through the gap around the door and pulling it towards the door hinge This only works if the door lock pawl is of the type that opens inwards
Unfortunately, none of the above had any effect on our case. Not giving up, I continued my search. Then I found there is a kind person who lectures the way to fix the same problem on Youtube.
As seen in the video, when I pulled the door while slamming a dining knife into the gap between the handles where I could see the grey metal part, the door would open assiduously. When the door is removed and disassembled, the plastic where the latch is pulled is chipped, again as shown in the video. The designer may have assumed the load on the latch, but the U-shaped cross-section of the resin would not hold the handle because the force to pull the handle could be applied if the designer wanted to, which is a design error. It is absolutely impossible to repair such a thing with glue. An amateur would have ordered a handle part, but I don’t want to spend the time and money. If it’s about the mechanical problem, probably I can fix it. Drill a hole at random and fix it stiffly with two wood screws. The screw heads stick out, so we file down the interfering parts on the door side. Screw the door back on and the repair is completed on the same day. It became such a nice age, if we want to know something, we can look it up on the internet. I bought the washing machine when I arrived in Germany and it will soon be six years old. I don’t want it to break down yet.
